Boss battles
They haunt us, they drive us to bed at night with thoughts in our mind “Will I ever win?” It’s impossible to know when you first walk into a room in any game for what you’re up against, but the dread boss battles that are left unbeaten, the game that is left to collect dust? Surely we’ve all been there, I’m here to put everyone together to unite against shitty unknown boss battles!
I swear to the nine divine Contrarian King, I will kill you.
What??!
It happens in every game, you’ll be walking into the next zone and your game loads a cutscene, automatically you know what is about to head your way, that’s right, a boss battle from the unknown dimensions of hell that pixelizes right infront of you, threatening to ruin your day. This is the fight you thought you were ready for, with a little more investigation against the boss to find out, you’re not. A lot of current RPG’s do not have these typical scenarios but more of the older ones. For any gamer that has this scenario occur, I feel for you. It’s not easy being put down from a boss, let alone trying again, and again, and again just to continue losing, despite your efforts. What do you do??
Not that there is a simple answer for any given boss battle, most cases I would say “just level grind” but it isn’t always that easy. In my case, Persona 4 Golden - I am stuck on the King in Yukikio’s castle and have been for years, sad I know. I always just put the game down and give up - because I’m not prone to using guides, when I finally did (recently) I found out that I don’t need to fight him, it’s completely optional! It’s games like this that want make me want to cry. Lack of direction, frustrating attempt after attempt just to find out that I never had to do it to begin with? That’s not good enough for me, no, I MUST BEAT HIM.
For any of you whom find yourself in these kinds of situations, I solute you. I solute you so hard my arm would fall off if I did it in person. It’s fights like this that can break any gamers soul. So that brings us in to the next question-
What do you do??
Sure you tried, time after time, you just continue struggling into these damn fights, suffering and not able to win. You tried grinding, hell some of you may of even used guides, what do you do?? I don’t personally have an answer except restart the game, or let the game collect dust, in any case a good waste of money. It’ll never be beaten, hell I bet you even have a friend come over and give it a shot - to no avail. It’s just odd how others beat the boss yet you kinda just sit there and ask “where did I go wrong?” perhaps it’s your plan, or battle strategy, so many things could lead to this single moment of unbearable frustration, but it’s not like it’ll be explained over night. IT takes hours, days and months of deep reflection and “do I suck?” questions finally come into play. No, my friends, do not let this evil enter your hearts, you are a GAMER, you HAVE to win, you have beaten games before, but why not this one!?!
Try, Try, Try, and TRY AGAIN!
Did you think it would be that easy to tell you to put the game away until next time? No, that’s surely not the right answer, but you wasted hours powering up and grinding, some of you don’t get to save before you even fight the boss. DON’T PUT THE GAME AWAY! It’s not going to solve itself, the demon will continue knocking at the door until you beat that boss. Hell this even goes for boss stages! Let’s say you’re playing Lion King, or Aladdin or some shit! IT WONT GO AWAY. YOU WONT GET BETTER GIVING IT A BREAK! KEEP GOING AT IT!!
The Struggle
I think a lot of game programmers don’t assume how hard some of the bosses are and they just don’t think twice before adding it in, or they just never replayed the game or paid for test programmers. It’s a shame really, because some people will LOVE this game more than you, but you wasted money on your most recent purchase. I found out in many cases sometimes it’s just not meant to be. I don’t like the game or the game doesn’t like me, it’s so hard to tell.
Motivation
It’s hard to figure where you can dig deeper than you already have, but if you look around and see other people are stuck, try not to blame yourself. I don’t think it’s the gamers fault in most cases and that you just need to continue trying. New strategies, level up, or just try ANYTHING maybe even drink some ice cold water, do something to enter with a fresh mind set and not give up on that purchase, rental, what have you. It’s hard for any gamer to just come forward and say “yeah, I sucked that that, I could never win” even when others have. It’s different for everyone. Everyone is different, but it’s not something to be ashamed of. Try to dig deep for motivation. What you could do well at others could suck at. In my case, I won’t give up, I need to know what makes Persona 4 so good because I’m not seeing it. I understand the mental blockade is there and I try to push my judgments aside and find the truth for myself, you should too.

Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst Review
Phantasy Star Online BB Ephinea Server Review (Pictures provided from Chadstar (@chadexcuse) also known as Chad Nub on the server) PSO Ephinea Server is a revival of the servers Sega has shut down some time ago, and is completely free to play. The holy grail of reviews is here, my favorite series being PSO (not to be mistaken for PSO2) PSO is a MMO that started out on the dreamcast and is highly regarded as one of the best games of it’s time. However, calling PSO a MMO by today’s standards may be a slight stretch but for those of you whom never heard of it or know much about it, I’ll provide the basic details. Jump In - Jump Out Teams PSO has a certain shine to it due to the community. What Ephinea offers in particular is a small niche of devoted players that are essential to your hunt on Ragol. The foundation of the game revolves around a 4 man team that may enter or leave the game at any point without penalty. Due to this mechanic you often may find new play...
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Review
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 took me by a wild surprise as it threw me into what would be one of my wildest and unforeseen addictions in gaming, and with plenty of reasons as to how it was able to keep me eager for my playthroughs for the many days I participated in the wonderful story and online world of DBX2. Being on the Switch has been a part of that dream coming true, that fantasy as a child - of creating your own wild character and just going ham on people, going to town together on the NPC’s with friends you make along the way, and all the charm combined into one little system! Believe me friends, as I write this review, their is reason to gloat over personal gaming and technology achievements and DBX2 is going to explain why! Online Is The Way To Go: Playing Dragonball Xenoverse 2 online was one of the most fun times in gaming I’ve had in awhile, as I felt a connection with the server and it’s relatively small fanbase that still plays, it was well worth the time and effo...
Geek Peek: Sally Face
If you are interested in a side scroller horror game, Sally Face may be a great place to start. The game description is as: “ Sally Face is a boy with blue pigtails, a prosthetic face and a mysterious past. Guide him on weird adventures through high school and beyond; dealing with the many oddities and hardships in his life.” Developed solely by Steve Garby ( @PortableMoose ) Sally Face is what I would describe as a side-scrolling horror genre with additive elements of mystery and adventure. From what I gathered and played, this game is going to keep people on the edge of their seats for the upcoming chapters. I imagine Sally Face will continue to grow a fan base, which it has a rather impressive one now for an indie title. With an excellent soundtrack of displaced synth instrumental, and a dark atmosphere with memorable characters, Sally Face really throws you into a twisted realm rather fast. For the time being today (November 5th, 2016), chatper 1 of Sally Face is ...
