With the arrival of Nintendo’s newest hit title on the way in just week and some days, there is only so much anticipation someone can take without losing their mind. Racing thoughts periodically spread through my mind of all the new Pokemon, the new areas, soundtrack, and movesets that hit me like a wave as if I already had my hands on the game.
Luckily for someone like me - who works a heavy amount of hourly weeks, Nintendo has a been supplementing this portable franchise without any drawbacks of it being on a handheld system. Although spec wise, the 3DS is not my favorite choice of portable console, there are exceptions to be made and that is especially true with Nintendo.
The beauty of the Pokemon franchise is the fact that I can take it to work with me, or the bathroom, or the gym...you get the picture. Thus, I have been already gearing up for Sun and Moon in my own way; training myself to play my DS anywhere.
Some people have already perfected this art long before me, but as a student of life and surroundings I try to focus on whatever task is at hand, but this won’t be the case much longer. In both jobs I work I am typically away from home for over 50+ hours a week which doesn’t give you a lot of time if you count eating, sleeping, driving, the works. I knew the endeavor of what was to come...less time for video games. However since the announcement of Sun and Moon coupled with a launch date of Nov.18th I have drastically been searching for ways I can get that luxurious playtime in to keep up with all the cool kids.
I slowly started the process with just playing my 2DS more (yes I use a 2DS my 3DS is currently imploding due to the battery) bringing it with me to every location I go. I then began testing boundaries of when it’s okay to play it. I began finding small niches of time when it’s reasonable to take a breather on the clock and break out the good ol’ 2DS. I went to the gym yesterday bringing it with me, between each cool down period of my workout I would pull my lunky 2DS out of my pocket and continue on my journey with Pearl. Small little breaks in life like the one I live call for living in any present moment, so I figure why the hell not and become that obnoxious guy who's always glued to his handheld? Arceus knows I’m going to need every hour I get soon enough.
Since I have obligations to fulfill daily, I know that I must become one with my 2DS in order to soak in as many hours as I can.
What are some life preparations you make when you have a favorite title series coming out? Do you cut off contact? Cut back sleep? Go away somewhere? Let me know either in the comments or on Twitter!

Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst Review
Phantasy Star Online BB Ephinea Server Review (Pictures provided from Chadstar (@chadexcuse) also known as Chad Nub on the server) PSO Ephinea Server is a revival of the servers Sega has shut down some time ago, and is completely free to play. The holy grail of reviews is here, my favorite series being PSO (not to be mistaken for PSO2) PSO is a MMO that started out on the dreamcast and is highly regarded as one of the best games of it’s time. However, calling PSO a MMO by today’s standards may be a slight stretch but for those of you whom never heard of it or know much about it, I’ll provide the basic details. Jump In - Jump Out Teams PSO has a certain shine to it due to the community. What Ephinea offers in particular is a small niche of devoted players that are essential to your hunt on Ragol. The foundation of the game revolves around a 4 man team that may enter or leave the game at any point without penalty. Due to this mechanic you often may find new play...
Life Is Strange Review (Spoiler Free)
Life can be very strange, indeed. Introduction: Life Is Strange is about a student named Max Caulfield, whom recently has moved back to Oregon to a private High School for her final year, known as Blackwell Academy. The premise of the game is focused on the second week of October, 2013. The town that you will become familiar with - Arcadia Bay, a quiet and small but year beautiful and charming in it’s own way. The game will quickly give you a sense of just what exactly is happening in this small town closely related to Max’s journey. Atmosphere and Charm: As soon as I started initially, I was ready to bash the game for it’s graphics. I held my reservations and trotted forward, soon to begin and realize that the game contained more of a “style” that I needed to get used to. Granted playing on the PS4 I always expect better, I quickly overcame the concept. Now? I couldn’t get enough. Arcadia Bay truly has something captivating about it, that almost makes me want ...
Darkest Dungeon PC Review
Darkest Dungeon is a PC side scrolling RPG with permadeath mechanics. This game has been out for a little over a year and after a solid 20 hours of gameplay I feel I can justifiably write a review. Let’s take a look as we judge this unique gameplay experience. Darkest Souls Permadeath being a strong mechanic of this game ultimately decides for you whether or not you are able to set out on your next mission. The game operates in a cool-down fashion where you are set on a quest, afterward returning back to your town where you restock, and make strategic decisions for the next endeavor. Gameplay: Darkest Dungeon is focused on dungeon grinding through 4 similarly designed dungeons, the fifth one being the finale. It’s a side scrolling 2D survival RPG (lots of genres mixed into one here) with characters being able to get armor upgrades, skill upgrades, and treatments from the town depending on how much of your estate you upgrade from completing dungeons, making this a fairly ...
